Health is a big part of everyone's life. One of increasing health concerns is Diabetes. Diabetes can effect anyone at any age. You can be diagnosed with Diabetes as a youth or as an adult. Diabetes can be hereditary or be acquired from poor eating habits which can be the result of obesity. Diabetes can be controlled by diet or medicine. Oral medicine and insulin shots are the two most popular treatments. Exercise can help tremendously in the control of diabetes. Just a simple exercise routine 3 or 4 times a week can be very beneficial. One of the simple things to do is a brisk walk for about twenty minuets a day. This will help burn of the Carbohydrates. I have been a diabetic for 7 years. I have learned to live with my condition. I take oral medicine to control my blood sugar or glucose. I am not a doctor or an expert on Diabetes I just want to share my experiences with everyone and let them share there experiences with me.

I will try to use terms that everyone will understand. I know a lot of people are new to Diabetes and there are people who have had it for years. If I am confusing you let me know. Diabetes is a disease that can effect every organ of the body. From eye site to all of your organs and limbs. Especially the feet. Take good care of your feet. Any sore or other problems must be taken care of immediately, ask your doctor to do a foot exam the next time you visit him or her.

There are two types of Diabetes. Type 1 is a condition in which the body does not produce insulin. This is the most serious type and must be treated by taking insulin by shots. Type 2 is when the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells ignore the insulin. I have type 2,  my pancreas does not produce enough insulin. When I eat food the insulin does not break down all of the starches or carbohydrates in the blood system. This causes a lot of problems. Over time if you have too much glucose or blood sugar in you system you will have physical problems. If I have answered some of your questions let me know by sending me an email. My address is joeroy2@gmail.com. If you need more advanced help go to the American Diabetes Association web site at www.diabetes.org.

Like I said in the beginning this is a blog. Your are welcome to send me your comments. I will use them on this page for everyone to see and comment on.
